Brilliant comments Blondie!
Its quite laughable the 'proof' they give of angelic support, and yet as you rightly pointed out they can't hope to get their interpretations to all 6 billion humans, despite this so called help - how pathetic!

my oldest daughter is a tough one.
she is a real sweetie with everyone else but a real kick in the pants at home.
geez, sometimes she knows exactly what buttons to push.
Talking about it is the right answer, so thats one good thing. I know how it feels to do or say something in the heat of the moment, it really feels bad, especially when it was directed to your child - someone you love unconditionally. The fact is though, you cant take it back only make amends, in which it sounds like you have. So to learn to let it go is next. There were good reasons you got that heated and are human, make a mistake or two, it happens. The only thing that is wrong is when we dont learn from our mistakes. It's becomes a life lesson for you both, which is no bad thing. There is always some positive view of anything we do, however silly it was at the time.
I can imagine your worry also with your home and work situation. But again try to find out all that is going on, tell your other half about your concerns. In the end as long as you and your family are healthy and can get by, thats all that matters.

i took my two children home today, and was about to step in when my ex says, 'i've got people here'.
it turned out to be her sister (also a jw).
normally i'm ok to go in, but not this time, if i ever go in and she happens to be there she doesnt say a word to me.
Thanks for your reply's, i'm over it now. Just wanted to speak about it.

I know its not all that bad, but it did cause me to have some anger inside, simply because they follow the idea's of men. I can't blame them, as i know what its like to be that far in, but I wish more people would be able to think about the teachings and have doubts - there is just no getting through to some people I guess.

okay, before you say straight "no!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!1111111111111111" let us rethink.
lets say jehovas witnesses actually have the truth.
Ok, say you take the Bible as gospel(!) you know that Paul was chosen by Christ became an annointed apostle etc. So in that scheme of things you could say that in line with what he wrote, those taking the lead could judge etc. Ok skip to modern day, who are the leaders now? Are they people that got chosen by each generation from Paul to now? I dont think they are are they, in fact they are self appointed. They have an interpretation and wish others to take up that belief and follow it. To become one of these leaders you have to be chosen by the ones already there, so if you dont know anyone on the GB, or have connections to get yourself known, you wont make it.
So I really dont see there is scriptural evidence to allow the organisation to judge its members - only from the point of view that they have joined that organisation and must follow its rules and regulations, like any man directed organisation, if you break a rule you can be judged by it. An example is Formula 1, its sanctioned and governed by a body - the FIA, if you want to be a part of it you must abide by its rules.

i was wondering if anyone knew how what became the 'meetings' came into being.
say from the time russell printed the watchtower, to congregations forming and a particular format being followed.. i guess this question arose in my mind because to become a member of a religion/organisation you have to comply to a set of rules or guidelines that make you more unique to that particular religion.
the jw's have specific meetings, and this is one area i was curious to see the development of.
Wow thanks for the research there!
There does seem to be a common theme of directing things to a unified (controlled) format. Its now become the norm and another area where an unwritten (at least biblically) law is held up as determining whether you are of good standing or not. I was surprised how early direction was being given to those that followed the watchtower, I guess a lot of that history wasn't common knowledge to the r & f dubs like me, though we could have looked it up i suppose - in between all the other information we were bombarded with. In fact if you took in all the spiritual food your supposed to, you'd be a glutten!

What i'm saying is that if you accept the Bible to be from God, thats one thing, but to belong to a religion is to take their unique interpretation of the Bible, to follow the idea's of men, in other words. You can only get to God through us kinda thing, you see what i'm getting at.

its been suggested to me by someone who clearly is not aware of my atheism that adopting an imaginary friend could help me find my purpose in life after a relationship breakup.
it annoys and perplexes me although i realise everyone has a right to their own opinion.. however my opinion is this:.
my husband hasnt left me - i've never had a husband and i certainly hope i never have that misfortune or get ill enough to suffer such poor judgement as restricting myself to the bed of one person for the rest of my life when i personally am certainly not willing to keep such a promise.
I have to agree that i dont think it can really help in such an experience. Having gone through a divorce myself, i think there is no good way to proceed, but a long haul of emotional turmoil that must be gone through in order to face up to it and move forward. I do think doing things to distract you and keeping busy and so on are good things, and perhaps thats what the suggestion was all about, but in the end you still have to go through the pain and difficulty of the experience, although some time out isnt a bad idea.
Having people to talk to is probably the best thing that helps, to be able to pour out your emotion can be so healing, and its something you want to know is there for you anytime you need it. I've recently began to see how it must have been for my ex, its all to easy to see how it affect yourself, but I also found it healing to acknowledge her pain also and even apologise to her for the pain it caused us both, and my part in any of it.
Anyway thats my take on what can help get over it

how do you stand on one night stands?
and why?
i was really against them and said i never would again.
I cant really comment from experience, but I would imagine some people would find it hard to detach emotions from it, like the greek guy mentioned. I personally wouldnt want to do it, but with drink i'm sure it would become an easy line for me to cross, with repercussions the next day. But I dont see that ever happening to me, as I find the whole relationship thing a difficult and unatural (or uncomfortable) idea. I've already failed with it in a big way before and the two other experience since then confirms that. I try to be happy without that need being fulfilled, and on the most part i'm doing well, but if there was an opperation to remove that part of the brain, i'm sure life would be a lot easier!
